First Caspian tern fledglings observed at Eden Landing tern colony; about 56 breeding pairs raised about 45 fledglings in 2008

Final survey of Stevens Creek Caspian tern colony; 49 adult terns and 26 tern chicks present; about 80 breeding pairs raised an unknown number of fledglings in 2008

Final survey of Agua Vista Park Caspian tern colony; 25 adults and no chicks observed; about 25 breeding pairs produced an unknown number of fledglings in 2008

183 Caspian tern chicks captured and banded at Brooks Island tern colony

First Caspian tern fledgling observed at Brooks Island tern colony; about 812 breeding pairs raised about 340 fledglings in 2008

Last aerial survey to locate radio-tagged Caspian terns tagged at Brooks Island colony; 11 aerial surveys completed and 164 off-colony detections collected for 39 radio-tagged terns


6/10/08

Project staff observed release of hatchery-reared Chinook salmon smolts from net pens in San Pablo Bay; Caspian terns, brown pelicans, American white pelicans, double-crested cormorants, and western gulls observed foraging on fish released from net pens; radio-tagged Caspian terns from Brooks Island detected in area

High high tide caused some nest failure due to flooding on Brooks Island Caspian tern colony
